My heart truly goes out to the people of the gulf coast. I had the pleasure of being stationed at Keesler AFB in Biloxi, MS (which I have heard is pretty much destroyed). I love that area and I know that you will rebuild. I was able to visit New Orleans while I was at Keesler, and I fell in love with that place. It breaks my heart to see it underwater and it's people in dire straits with little or no help in sight. I really hope that the people of Biloxi and New Orleans and all those affected will recover and rebuild as soon as possible. I know it will take time, it may seem like forever, but you can do it. Americans are strong and we will help you through this. May God bless and keep all of you.

I haven't posted this week because my best friend came to visit me and I haven't seen her in almost 8 years. She lives in Iowa, and I live in Nevada, so we can't seen each other as often as we like. I have missed her so much. I haven't really knitted a stitch this week, so I don't have anything knitting related to post. But I am still here.

Well, I just had to start something else of course! I am making this bevin tank for my friend Jessica. She will look so good in it. It's just her style. I'm still working on the clapotis too, but man, it sure is annoying after a while. The nice thing about the bevin tank is that I already had the yarn that the pattern called for and I have more than enough to complete it! That never happens. I'm usually a ball short. Wow, that sure sums up a lot of things. ;) Oh, I forgot to post a picture of the boy and I. I just love this pic.

I can see why people said the clapotis can get annoying! I'm just starting the straight rows and I'm already getting tired of it! I will be glad when it's done. The koigu is so nice to work with though. Everyone who sees me working on it wonders what it is. I keep telling them it's a scarf, just fatter, but no one believes me.
:( I finished one of my regia socks and I still have a bunch of yarn left from it, so I think i'm going to make another cell phone pouch. Yeah! Another project to add to the millions I already have going.

Here's a picture of the clapotis that I started with the koigu I had from the charlottes web. That shawl was driving me crazy. I was having a hell of a time following the sorry excuse for a pattern that I got. Anyways, sorry the picture isn't that great. I took it with my cell phone. I have to get a better camera, but I can't do that until i'm working again, which hopefully will be soon. ;)

I have been knitting like crazy as usual since i'm not working at the moment. I'm working on 2 pairs of socks and a present for my best friend. I'm here and i'm knitting again. Doing beadwork is nice, but it kinda makes me depressed. My ex-husband threw away all my beads and they were worth about a grand or two, so every time I bead, I think about what I lost. I seem to enjoy knitting more anyways. I'm working on about 6 projects and I will post some pictures once I get my camera working again. I hope I haven't lost all my readers! I am still here and I'm still a knitter.

I know, I haven't been around in a while. Making that beaded top made me get the bead bug and I picked up my beading again. Once I start doing a certain craft, I kinda get sucked in to do that one craft and only that one craft. So right now, it's beading. I haven't posted any pictures of it because I made this blog for knitting. Should I put up pictures of my beadwork too. Would that be passe? Let me know by leaving a comment.

I don't have a picture of Nicole in her top yet. I've got bronchitis and I'm sicker than a dog. I had to go home early from work today, and all I did was sleep today. I hope to get some knitting done in the next few days since they are my regular days off, it just depends on how I feel. Right now, i'm still miserable. :(

Beaded top finished!

It's all finished! I'm going to give it to Nicole tomorrow and I'm going to hopefully get a picture of her in it so I can post it here. I told her that was a condition of me making the top for her. ;) My only gripe about the project is that the bottom of the shirt is puckering a bit due to the beads. Hopefully it will stretch out a bit and it won't do that. Otherwise, i'm very proud of this top and I think it came out beautiful!

Here's what Nicole's beaded top is going to look like when it's finished.

I just started the first half of the short rows. Every time I pull this project out of my knitting bag, people just go crazy. One of the ladies I work with is calling it the Come F*** Me shirt. She is too funny. I'm also working on a ribbon tank top out of the new knitters mag:

Nicole's Top

Here is a picture of the top I'm making for my friend, Nicole. The pattern is from the new knitters magazine. I'm using Patons brilliant. It's not what the pattern calls for, but it's pretty and cheaper than the lion brand glitterspun. I got the beads from Ben Franklin Crafts and they look just like the beads from the top in the magazine. I can't wait to finish this top, it's going to be so gorgeous. Everyone at the guild Knit n' Chat just went nuts over it. All the ladies came up to me and wanted to see what I was making and the just gushed over it saying how beautiful it was. Knitting with other people is sweet.

The new knitters magazine is so sweet. I'm having so much fun knitting the beaded halter top in this issue. I even found the same beads they used. It looks almost exactly the same as the picture. It's not a complicated pattern, but it looks so pretty. I'm making it for a friend of mine. As soon as I saw this top, I knew i'd be making it for her. It's going to look so perfect on her.

I finally started charlotte again. I'm just taking it really really slow! I also went and joined the local knitting guild called the silver state knitting guild. The ladies were super nice and I think i'm going to have a lot of fun being part of that group. I'm kinda tired of knitting by myself all the time anyway. Other than working on charlotte, I made a sidekick pouch to keep the screen from getting scratched. That's about it, though. I have to go back to work tomorrow, and then it's no knitting for 4 days. :(

I have been very bad lately. I haven't updated in so long. I haven't really been knitting at all. I've ripped the charlotte out twice now, so i'm too frustrated to work on it. And I've been really busy playing with my new sidekick II.
This is such a cool toy. It does everything. Web browsing, camera, phone, e-mail. I really do need to pick up that charlotte again and try. The boy spent a lot of money on the yarn for me, so I have to finish it!

I haven't knitted one stitch in a week. I have been so tired from work that I've been sleeping most of the day on my days off. I've been afraid to work on charlotte because i've had to rip it once and since I won't have a pattern to follow after the 46th row, i'm afraid i'm going to be doing it wrong. I know I should just work on it and watch to make sure it's the same as the pattern sheet, I just don't like frogging projects especially lace ones. I have to start all over, I can't just pick up stitches. :(

I work too much. And my camera batteries are dead, so I can't take any pictures for a day or so. Not that I have anything to take pictures of. I haven't been knitting at all because I've been at work. I'm working 13 and 14 hour days and it's really getting to me. Thank goodness I have a few days off soon.....

I'm starting to not like this pattern. I thought it would be easier. I've already had to rip it once. The pattern that I bought is not much help. I just keep hoping that I'll be able to keep going once I can't follow the chart anymore. I didn't know it was going to be this hard!!! Anyway, the other day I did a trade with Monique and she sent me some really cool stuff. I got a Katia magazine, a cleckheaton pattern book and a patons pattern book, all of which i've never seen in the states. I was so cool to get a package from Australia as well! I sent her Vintage Knits by Sarah Dallas. She was looking for it on the knitty coffeeshop trade board, and I was looking to get rid of it. I think it was a very fair trade. Thanks Monique!

I finally got the package my boy ordered me for Christmas! It's a Charlotte's Web pattern and 5 skeins of koigu. I'm so happy I finally get to make this shawl. I know everyone else has made it, but it's so beautiful I just have to knit it. I don't wear shawls. But I have to knit it, even if I don't wear it. :) It's just too good to pass up.

I haven't written in a few days because I work long hours on Fri, Sat and Sun. I'm so tired when I get home, I don't feel like doing anything. I didn't even knit for 2 days and that's a long time for me since i'm so knit-addicted. I haven't got my knit package that my boy said is on it's way. I forgot that there was no mail today. I just hope that it's cool. My wavy scarf got eaten by my cat she hasn't done that in a long time. I guess she didn't like it. I'm still working on the marilyn, just slowly. When I get bored with a project, I don't work on it much or at all. I just start working on a small project like a scarf or hat to ease the boredom. ;) Does anyone else do that?

This is my wavyscarf that I started today. I'm using (GASP) Lion brand wool ease because I had enough for a scarf lying around. I'm not a yarn snob, i'm too broke to be. It's hard for me to spend 10 bucks on a 50 gram ball of yarn and have to buy 15 of them to finish a project. I've tried buying them little by little and the yarn store runs out of the yarn, or something silly like that. So, i've been buying cheaper yarn all at once and then I can finish the project easier. I do love the feel of the natural fibers though. I felt some Debbie Bliss Alpaca Silk the other day and it was Oh, so soft!!! I would love to make something out of that. But I guess i'll have to wait. But I do enjoy the acrylic because I can get it all different places in town (even Walmart) and there are so many different yarns to choose from. Someday, I'll have more money, and i'll still be buying acrylic!

I got the back done on Marilyn. I only have 5 rows of the front done so far, but since this yarn isn't worsted it's more chunky, it's going by pretty fast. My boy said he got me a knitting-type surprise and it should be here in the mail any day now, so i'm really excited. We weren't able to afford Christmas presents because we took a trip and it wiped us out financially. It was a great trip though. We went to LA for a gaming convention. And by gaming I mean dungeons and dragons type gaming. Yes, i'm a gamer. But not as hard core as the boy and his friends. But there are a few games that I truly love. One's called killer bunnies and the quest for the magic carrot. It's a chaotic card game in which you are trying to keep your bunnies alive while killing the other players bunnies. I saw a lady at my work the other day that was wearing a scarf out of this stuff. I asked her if she made it, she said no. But she paid 50 bucks for it. I'm in the wrong business. If I knew sooner that I could make 50 bucks off of 6 dollars worth of yarn, i'd be making tons of scarfs. But I knit for fun and relaxation, not to drive myself crazy trying to keep up with making garter stitch scarfs all day....Major kudos to those of you that do that, I would be bored out of my skull. I can't even do Stockinette stitch for a long time...I need some kinda change in the pattern or I get bored. Anyways, it's still snowing and I've got to get to sleep so I can dig the car out tomorrow.
